Where: East High, 70th & A Streets, Walk Starts at 10:00 a.m. Park in west parking lot at Seacrest Field

Who: LPS staff, parents, students, family, friends, service, organizations, PTOs, PTAs, school clubs, student groups, business partners, CLC collaborators, churches, TeamMate mentors, and volunteers

Why: To provide funding for the LPS/Food Bank BackPack program

  • Currently 644 LPS elementary students receive weekly food filled backpacks.  Need is great as there are 6,504 elementary students who qualify for free/reduced lunch.
  • Lancaster County census figures - over 7,000 children under age 18 living in poverty
  • Research shows that hungry children have difficulty learning
  • Food Bank distributes $7 worth of food for every $1 donated
  • Each backpack provides for approximately 5-10 meals
  • Backpack cost -Per week $4.50 - Per month $18.00 -
  • Per Semester $75 - Per year $150

Antelope Valley Project Update

  • The parent drop-off lane will remain open during the entire project.

  • The "J" Street bridge will begin construction in June of '08, and is scheduled to be completed in October of '08.

  • The "N" Street bridge is scheduled to begin after the "J" Street bridge opens.

  • Both bridges will not be closed at the same time.

  • The pedestrian bridge will likely be opn for the entire '08-'09 school year.

  • The "O" Street bridge is scheduled to be open by September 1st of '08.

  • The Lewis Field parking lot (near LHS) will be under construction this spring, and is scheduled to be completed by September 15, '08.

That is our theme for this year.  Elliott truly embodies the spirit of the theme “We are the World,” and we are proud to celebrate the diversity of our school with more than 25 languages spoken with student hailing from around the world.  This year's theme also reflects our continued dedication to the our community of teachers, staff, students and families of Elliott School.

Giving Back to Elliott is Easy

When you eat you can help. You can give back to Elliott by saving your General Mills, Betty Crocker and Pillsbury products box tops (also known as Box Tops for Education), Campbell's Soup, Swanson and Best Choice Brand labels and then handing them into the office. Companies contribute money back to the school based upon number of labels returned, so make sure you save your box tops and label and return them to help out Elliott.

Keeping Our Children Safe

In order to increase the safety of our school, the only door that visitors may enter Elliott Elementary during school hours, will be the west entrance (back of the school). On arrival, all visitors, including family and volunteers, are required to check in with the Secured Entrance Monitor located in the main hall. Visitors will receive a visitor's badge identifying them as signed in visitors to our school.

Another matter of safety is the drop off and pick up locations for students. The staff parking lot poses many dangers and is not to be used for dropping off or picking up students. The west drive way is the only area designated and safe for students.

Students in the "Y" program may arrive at school between 7:45 and 8 a.m. Students arriving at school between 8:30 and 8:50 will be escorted to the cafeteria for breakfast. Students who are not eating breakfast should not arrive before 8:50 a.m.
